I have some questions as I'm reading through the DF rules and chart. Not sure where else to post!

> The example for increasing an ability by 1 step is simply 1 -> 2 or 3 -> 4. How does this apply to dice like 1d4? Or abilities that posses both a number and dice, e.g. DoTs/HoTs? Would 1 Damage over 1d4 rounds become 2 damage over 1d6 rounds?

> Is it possible to take part of the Universal Bonuses (just the DEF or ATK) and then take the other attributes under Discipline or Type Bonuses? E.g. +1 Universal Attack, +2 Discipline Defense

I think there is some confusion. The step up refers to the scaling becoming one step higher.

E.G)
DoT DMG Damage Type/Hit which applies a DoT to a certain type (Fire jutsu, water jutsu etc) is currently - 0 / 1 for 1 round / 1 for 1d4 rounds / 2 for 1d4 rounds scaling from Academy student to Jounin for 2 AP.

Scaling it up, it would become)
DoT DMG Damage Type/Hit which applies a DoT to a certain type (Fire jutsu, water jutsu etc) is currently - 1 for 1 round / 1 for 1d4 rounds / 2 for 1d4 rounds / 1d4 for 1d4 rounds scaling from Academy student to Jounin for 3 AP.

Or as a Passive, it would be)
DoT DMG Damage Type/Hit which applies a DoT to a certain type (Fire jutsu, water jutsu etc) is currently 1 for 1 round on passive for 2 AP.

Scaling it up, it would become)
DoT DMG Damage Type/Hit which applies a DoT to a certain type (Fire jutsu, water jutsu etc) is currently 1 for 1d4 round on passive for 3 AP.

Your second question is simple, Yes you can. Universal is ATK/DEF. If you want just ATK or DEF, it would be considered Discipline. If you want to have just Ninjutsu DEF, that would be considered Type, instead of discipline.

The way this works is you are applying a certain discipline, but only using a single aspect of it. So defending with ninjutsu is a type of ninjutsu instead of the discipline ninjutsu.

Hopefully that helps / answers all your questions. Anymore, feel free to ask.
